A few days ago, I found out about a website called "Freedom Works". I thought it'd be a good thing to join to keep in touch with other like-minded souls. Overall, the site looks a lot like Facebook, however it seems very cluttered. I think it might be hard to find local events and keep up with postings. So I'm a little worried about the usefulness of the site.
I think a better website to follow might be "Americans For Prosperity". Yes, they want money to support their efforts, but more than that they have a nice PDF manual to download and read to help you make a positive impact.

Where Do I Get My Prize?
President Obama got the Nobel Prize today (and $1.4 million) - and what did he do to win such an "honor?" No, really - what did he do? At least Carter built houses.
I listened to his "humble" speech, and I read the Nobel committee's press release. It seems he won this prize for what he "might do". Huh?
Where do I go to get my prize (and the $1.4 million)?

Priorities
Chicago seems to have lost out on the Olympics. Probably just as well. It seems preparing for the Olympics causes cities to go over budget by quite a bit. With the economy the way it is, this is probably actually a blessing for Chicago.
I guess what I want to know is how many lives did this little trip cost us? The President has been avoiding making a decision about what to do about Afghanistan. His commanders sent in their reports/recommendations weeks ago. If the President decides to win the war there, then he makes half the country angry. If he decides to pull out, he makes the other half angry.
What do leaders do? They make decisions. When this happens someone is always unhappy. True leaders know this, but eventually both sides respect him/her for making the decision. Indecisiveness is never respected.
What will he do? Nothing. If he waits long enough then everyone will want him to bring the troops home. One side will cheer him to bring the troops home, and the other side will tire of the needless deaths and if we aren't going to fight to win they will petition him to bring the troops home.

It's 9/9/09 - Do You Know Where Your Representative Is?
Near as I can tell, our "representatives" (for NM) are in hiding. The emails from Senator Udall inform me where I can go to pick up literature and so forth that explains his position. Senator Bingaman doesn't answer my correspondences. Representative Lujan sends me form letters thanking me for my opinions and to contact any of his offices if he can assist me in anyway.
I guess they're too busy driving up the deficit. What is it about the liberal mindset that they can't equate a huge deficit with a huge debt? So what we don't have the money? - it's the "moral" thing to do to create all these "swell" programs.
Well, I think it's immoral. When you take property from one person and give it to another who didn't work for it - that's called stealing!

You're Too Stupid to Understand Your Constitution
I read an article about Senator Mark Warner (D-Va) on the CNSNEWS website. During a town hall the Senator said there is "no place in the Constitution" that mentions health care or education or the right to own a telephone. As is typical of liberals, he proceeds to attack the poor woman who asked the question.
How stupid do they think we are?
The Constitution isn't about what WE THE PEOPLE are allowed to do. Rather, it specifically enumerates the powers of the Government and limits what the Government is allowed and not allowed to do. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights protects us from an all-powerful Government.
At least, it's supposed to.

Bacteria in the Beer
I found out today that something went horribly wrong in our last beer recipe. The bottles have been resting in a dark cool place where the remaining yeast is supposed to be carbonating the beer, so it isn't flat when we pop the cap and pour it in a glass.
While peering into the bottles to look for the signs of carbonation we found instead huge floating masses of bacteria! Seems that the yeast lost the battle to the bacteria. So much for this batch - we have to pitch it!
It occurred to what a wonderful metaphor for what's happening in the Country! Will the yeast lose out to the bacteria? I hope not. Otherwise we'll have to pitch the Recipe.
